John's obituary

John C. Butler Esq. died November 29, 2017 at JFK Medical Center after a recent stroke. He is survived by his wife, three children and two grandchildren and his brother Jeff Butler.

John was born August 25, 1953 to Lawrence Butler and Erna (McKenzie) Butler in Mt. Vernon Ohio. He was the middle of three children, including his older brother Larry, and his younger brother Jeff. He graduated college in 1975 from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park MD. He continued on to obtain his Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University in 1978.

He was married to Sandra L. (Jones) Butler on September 21, 1980. They had three children and two grandchildren. Daughter Sandra (Butler) James, married to Adam James and their children Nathan and Samantha. Daughter Ashley (Butler) Zhong, married to Jidong Zhong and a Son, John C. Butler.

He moved to Woodbury New Jersey from Ohio and opened a successful law practice where he worked until his retirement in the early 2000's due to poor health. John was very active in his community. He was President of his local Rotary club in 1996 and a member for many years. He was an Elder in his Church for over 30 years and he also served as Board Chairman for the school board of Delaware Valley Junior Academy, a private Christian school at which his children attended. He also volunteered his time and legal expertise for many other organizations.

In retirement he enjoyed lecturing as a diabetes health educator, and working for the Walt Disney World resort.

He currently resided with his wife in West Palm Beach where they moved in 2011.

The memorial service for John Butler will be held at the First Seventh Day Adventist Church of West Palm Beach at 11:00 am, Sunday December 3rd.
