John's obituary
John Burns passed away on April 8, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of Lt. Colonel John F. Burns and Mary (Natale) Burns.
He lived most of his childhood in Leominster, MA. In early 1970 he moved to San Francisco that became his forever home. It was in the City by the Bay where John met and married his beloved wife, Carol Foster Burns, raised his daughters, Lauren Natale Burns from Kihei, Hawaii and Margaret Faye Burns from Madison, Wisconsin. John also leaves his sisters, RM Collins, Janet Sevigny, Nancy Umina, along with many nieces and nephews from the New England area. He was a businessman that owned and operated San Francisco Circuit Breakers, offering both residential and commercial electrical services to the Bay area. He had a knack for telling stories and eventually put his spoken words to pen and paper He authored and published a series of children’s books titled, “The Many Adventures of Pengey The Penguin”. In 2015 his works garnered him an unprecedented 4 coveted “REMI” Awards. He is also the recipient of “The Living Legacy Award” presented by the Arizona Branch of International Women In Film. Before his passing, he completed and published his latest novel, a crime thriller, The Glass Alibi. He was an avid golfer, a Marshall Arts expert and self-taught guitarist. He loved the spotlight; he knew how to work a room and lived life large. A private service was held on April 23, 2023 to honor and celebrate John’s life. His bon vivant presence, his spoken and written words will be missed by his family and friends.
