John's obituary

John D. Brown, age 87, passed away surrounded by his family on June 7, 2024, in Simi Valley. He was born on September 14, 1936, in Upland, CA.

John married the love of his life, Rose Brown, on September 14, 1963. Together, they had three children and were blessed with seven grandchildren. John pursued higher education, earning degrees in both the arts and mathematics. His thirst for knowledge also led him to attend Bible college to deepen his understanding of his Lord and Creator.

He enjoyed a fulfilling career as an industrial fabrics salesman for United Textile until his medical retirement. Retirement allowed John to focus on his greatest joy—his family. He dedicated his time to his children and grandchildren, and when he wasn’t doing that, he was volunteering his time at Park View Elementary School. His love and dedication to the children there earned him multiple Volunteer of the Year awards, which he considered some of his proudest accomplishments during his retirement.

John was known for his loving, patient, and strong demeanor, his keen intellect, and his wonderfully dry sense of humor. He was a devoted father who loved attending his children's sports events and used his expert sewing skills to make equipment bags for their teams. He continued this tradition with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events and dance recitals.

A man of deep faith, John was avidly active in his church and Bible studies, reflecting his unwavering devotion to his beliefs. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him. In his leisure time, John found immense joy in reading, with a particular passion for Westerns, and he could often be found engrossed in a Louis L'Amour book while soaking up the sun. He was also an active member of the Old Trail Riders Club, further indulging his love for the Western genre.

John was preceded in death by his son Michael and sister Barbra. He is survived by his beloved wife Rose, his son Geoffrey his brother Dwayne, Sisters Joan and Virginia , and his cherished grandchildren: Micaya, Miriah, Joshua, Kaitlin, Cassandra, Kaelyn, and Craig.
