John R. Borschell passed away in Mesa, Arizona on March 23, 2026, surrounded by his children. John was born on June 20, 1946. John enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, John returned to his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a muscle car enthusiast and dedicated much his life to the martial arts, including Kung Fu and later attaining the rank of 3rd Dan (Black Belt) in Taekwondo.  John was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.  John touched the lives of many through his martial arts instructing, charitable contributions, and acts of kindness. John is survived by his five children, Jay, Antoinette Graeser, Dawn Wilmer (Bryan), Timothy Curran (Jessica), and Anthony Borschell; his grandchildren, Shawn, Crystal, Michael, Miranda, Eric, Alyssa, Jimmy, Mason and Madelyn; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be private according to John's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
