John's obituary
John E. Bordonaro, 75, of Belleville, NJ, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Born and raised in Belleville, he spent most of his life in Bloomfield, where he raised his family.
He is predeceased by his parents, John M. Bordonaro and Gilda (Pizzi) Bordonaro. He is survived by his three children: Gina Samuels and her husband Kerry, John A. Bordonaro and his wife Michelle, and Tony Bordonaro. He was the proud grandfather of Mark Tremper, Kallie Bordonaro, and Addison Bordonaro. He also leaves behind his beloved sister Joanie Santeramo and her husband John, his niece Lisa Santeramo, his nephew John T. Santeramo, and his cousin Linda Groom.
John was a retired pressman, proud of the work he did in the printing industry. But his true talents extended far beyond the pressroom. He was a gifted mechanic who could fix just about anything—and great at making ‘dippin’ eggs’!
A lifelong hobby enthusiast, John loved collecting coins and building model trucks. He had a sweet tooth that never quit and was arguably the world’s most loyal consumer of original ChapStick, Swedish Fish, and Gummy Bears. He loved the great outdoors and, during the early years of his sons’ lives, spent weekends camping and white-water rafting with them on Boy Scout adventures.
John loved action movies, exotic fish, and Italian sandwiches layered with soppressata and mozzarella. But more than anything, he loved his kids. His children and grandchildren were the greatest joys of his life.
John was one of a kind—funny, resourceful, charming, stubborn, and generous when he could be. His love, his big heart, his quirks—live on in all of us who had the joy of being loved by him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
