John's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of John Boomer Apodaca, who passed away on June 12, 2025, in Eureka, California, at the age of 37.

Born on February 7, 1988, Boomer was a son, a father, a brother, a husband, and a friend. Someone whose heart was full of love, whose spirit was full of fight, and whose laughter was unforgettable. While his journey was marked by struggle, he was deeply loved by his family and all who knew him.

Boomer had a big personality, full of humor, mischief, and compassion. He was known for his signature meal of ramen noodle sandwiches with a giant cup of milk, and he could make anyone laugh, even at the most inappropriate moments. Making funny videos with his daughters brought him joy, and his sense of humor left a lasting mark on everyone he met.

He was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. Whether he was driving trucks, landscaping, or doing anything that required working with his hands, he gave his all. Boomer also had a deep love for drawing. Sketching brought him peace and allowed him to express the emotions he couldn’t always put into words.

As a child, Boomer was full of energy and imagination. He loved wrestling in the yard, rollerblading and skateboarding with his friend Alex, and playing Nintendo 64. He always kept his shoes clean and had a sharp sense of style, even as a little boy.

Boomer is survived by his beloved daughters, Olivia, Emma, Avery, and Lucy. All of whom he loved with a fierce and tender heart. Being their dad was one of the greatest joys of his life. He lit up when he talked about them, always sharing stories with pride, humor, and love. Whether it was making silly videos, drawing pictures, or simply spending time together, Boomer lived for the moments when he could make them smile.

He also shared a special bond with Mariah, Aleena, and Elijah Perkins, whom he helped raise and cared for deeply. He was a steady and loving presence in their lives, offering the same guidance, laughter, and support he gave his own kids. To them, he wasn’t just someone in the house, he was family.

Each of these children carried a piece of his heart, and he gave everything he had to make sure they felt loved, protected, and seen.

He is also survived by his parents, Julie and Charlie Seipel, and Jimmy and Michelle McKinney; his brother, Cosmo Apodaca; his sister, Samantha Apodaca; and his grandfather, John "GG Pop" Maner.

Boomer was a proud and loving uncle to Ryan, Bentley, Kaydence, and Taylor, who adored their Uncle Boomer and will carry his memory with them always.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Lorraine, who no doubt greeted him in heaven with a tight hug, a heartfelt lecture, and a solid smack with her cane for arriving too soon.

Boomer faced some difficult battles in life, and while those battles ultimately took him from us, they never defined the love he gave or the joy he spread. His story is not just about how he left this world, but about how deeply he loved, how hard he tried, and how fiercely he cared.

A funeral will be held at Woodland Cemetery, 800 West St, Woodland, CA, at 10:00 am on Friday, July 11th. A private celebration of life will be held by the family following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for continued prayers and love as they grieve this painful loss and honor Boomer’s memory. To further honor him, please consider supporting organizations focused on addiction awareness, mental health, and recovery. Causes that offer hope, healing, and second chances for others walking similar paths.
