John's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Ashman, a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and respected member of his community. John passed away leaving behind a legacy of strength, hard work, and love that will live on through everyone who knew him.
John was born in Panama and later raised in Jamaica, where he developed the determination and strong values that shaped the rest of his life. He was known as a true go-getter—someone who worked hard, believed in providing for his family, and never backed down from a challenge. John was a talented tailor, a trade he took pride in and one that reflected his attention to detail, patience, and craftsmanship.
Above all, John was a devoted father. He was the proud father of five children: Patricia, Annette, Donna, Wray, and Christopher, who carry forward his strength, resilience, and love for family. He was also a cherished grandfather and friend, remembered for his wisdom, his stories, and the way he showed up for the people he cared about.
Those who knew John will remember his determination, his generosity, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. He believed in working hard, staying strong, and doing what needed to be done for his family.
To honour John’s life and legacy, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life in July 2026, during his birthday month, where family and friends will gather to share memories, stories, and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man.
John Ashman will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, family, and all who were fortunate enough to know him
