Dear Ashe family,

I lived near John on Broadway street in Butte, MT. I now live in Bozeman and recently saw the obituary. He was always a kind neighbor and I could tell he was also educated and cultured. I had no idea how truly sophisticated and successful he was in life. A mountain climber as an octogenarian is memorable and leaves me a bit envious. He certainly will be missed.

My sincerest condolences to John's family. John was a remarkable person and friend. He has made a difference in Butte, MT as the primary soil analyst for many, many, many, years. Rest in peace John.....Will always remember you. -Michele
