John's obituary
John A. Wilson, a proud Marine, devoted husband, loving father, and an adoring grandfather and great grandfather passed away on March 17, 2026 at home surrounded by family at the age of 79.
Born on January 8, 1947 in Winchester, KY, John lived a life defined by service, strength, and deep love for his family. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps, carrying the values of courage, discipline, and loyalty with him throughout his life. To those who knew him, he was nothing short of an American hero.
He was the proud father of Patrick and Stephanie from his first marriage, whom he loved deeply and supported wholeheartedly. Later, he married the love of his life Juanita, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Their union was blessed with one more child, Bradley Scott, completing the family that meant everything to him.
John was a man that worked tirelessly to provide for his family, always putting their needs before his own. His faith in God and his devotion to a life in servitude were his priority as a member of Lakota Hills Baptist Church. John's dedication to God will be missed as his passion to the mission of faith was his goal and his legacy. His strong work ethic was matched only by the size of his heart. He treasured his friendships and was known for his loyalty, humor, love for cars, a hat for every occasion, and the way he made everyone feel like family.
Nothing brought him greater joy than being a grandfather. He was at every practice, game, warm up or there for a ride home. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he loved them beyond measure, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Preceded in death by his parents Lester and Evelyn Wilson, brother Richard Wilson and brother-in-law, James Tyson. John is survived by his wife Juanita Wilson, children Patrick (Lori) Wilson, Stephanie Wilson, Bradley Scott (Erin) Wilson, grandchildren Brent Wilson, Kayla Clevenger, Braxton and Elijah Wilson, and great-grandchildren Ella, Jackson, Greyson and Anastasia.
A memorial will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Lakota Hills Baptist Church, Abundant Life Church or to Queen City Hospice.
