Joe's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joelle "Joe" Karma, affectionately known by his friends and family as Joe, who departed this life on August 18, 2024. Born on September 18, 1967, Joe led a life filled with gentle kindness, unwavering loyalty, and deep-rooted spirituality.
Joe was a devout attendee of St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, where he nurtured his faith and found solace. His life was a testament to his deeply rooted beliefs in kindness, friendship, and brotherhood.
Those who knew Joe will remember his love for his friends. In his words, he cherished them 'until the very end' and lamented he couldn't spend more time with them. This enduring love was a testament to the bond he formed with those close to him.
In his final years, Joe's brother, Wyatt Curry, became his sole caregiver. Though initially, their relationship was not very close, these years of shared struggle created a lifetime of real brotherhood. This transformation of their relationship is beautifully captured in the words of their friend Frank. He said, "Joey and I turned two years of struggle into a lifetime of real brotherhood."
Joe is survived by his brother, Wyatt Curry, who will carry on his legacy. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Phyllis Pickett, and his father, Dan Curry. Their memories will continue to inspire and guide the lives of those who knew them.
The loss of Joe leaves a vacuum that will be hard to fill. However, the lessons he imparted and the memories he created will always serve as a guiding light for his loved ones. As we bid him farewell, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends and thanks for the gift of his life.
