Joel's obituary
Joel Rudnick, a distinguished painter and sculptor originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away quietly from complications due to pneumonia on June 22, 2025. He was 88. Joel's artistic journey began at the Arts Students League of New York, where he received his initial training as a painter. He was privileged to be a protégé of Shelly Fink and studied under the renowned caricaturist and painter David Levine.
For half a century, Joel made the Berkshires his cherished home, where his artistic influence left an indelible mark on the community. His work was deeply inspired by the natural beauty of the region as well as themes of love and relationships. He resonated with both local and national audiences. Joel actively engaged with the Berkshires' vibrant art scene, participating in local exhibitions. For decades, he was represented by the Lenox Gallery of Fine Arts.
Joel Rudnick's legacy lives on as his artwork continues to captivate and inspire. Just a few days before his passing, a coffee-table book of some of his best work was published. This and prints of his work may be viewed at https://artist-joel-rudnick.s…
