Joel's obituary
In Memory of Joel Edward Morris
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joel Edward Morris, a devoted father, proud grandfather, musician, and dedicated paramedic for 38 years. Joel, age 69, leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and a life that touched so many.
He is survived by his fiancé, Yahaira Vega; his son, Timothy Morris-Walsh; twin brother, William Bae Morris; brother, Ben Morris; daughters, Lily Yvonne Morris and Jenna Noelle Morris; daughter-in-law, Joana Hastings Walsh; nephew, Anthony; and his beloved grandchildren, Natasha Ortiz, Charlie, Lydia, Abigail, and Sam Morris-Walsh. He is also survived by his sibling Adrienne Morris-Shapiro and her children, Jesper and Juniper Shapiro.
Joel was known for his quiet strength and boundless kindness. Whether through his music, his work as a paramedic, or simply being present when it mattered most, he had an extraordinary ability to make people feel safe, seen, and valued.
A lifelong music lover, Joel found joy and community at the Grey Fox Music Festival, where he spent many summers visiting with his dear friends at “The Owl Farm”—Scott, John, Brian, Caroline, Ruthy, and Ralph. These gatherings were a source of great happiness, reflection, and connection for him.
He will be missed deeply by all whose lives he touched—friends, family, colleagues, and so many others. Joel lived with an open heart, gave freely, and leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will endure.
