It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Joel. The life of Joel Kelly Millette, was cut short, in the city of Nanaimo, BC in the early morning of the 12th day of May, 2023. Joel was born on January 19th, 1984 to Michael and Dorothy Millette in the city of Kitimat, BC. As a premie, Joel started his life fighting and developed a level of fortitude that would see him through his brief 39 years.

Joel spent most of his childhood years in Campbell River, BC attending Pinecrest Elementary School and then Phoenix Secondary School. During those early years Joel enjoyed baseball, was an avid skateboarder and loved snowboarding. He was also blessed with artistic talent; Joel’s doodles and drawings could be found just about anywhere from his school books to his bedroom walls to scraps of paper around the house. Joel had a natural ability, accomplishing whatever he set his mind to, with intelligence and creativity. Perhaps what Joel will be best known for was his loyalty to his friends and family; everyone always knew that Joel would do anything for those he loved.

Joel is survived by his father Michael, mother Dorothy, sister Patricia and brother Dylan. He also left behind a loving partner, Jessica Chamberlain. As well as nieces Naiomi, Mila and Laya. Joel was deeply loved. His unexpected loss leaves us all truly heartbroken.
