Amy and Lechel Family,

A professional acquaintence that grew past the Sea and into a lifetime of friendship.  Joel shared our ups and downs, our home, each others' thoughts, and a very special place in our hearts. The Bosn is, and will always be, sorely missed.

Respectfully,

Rick & Laura Beede, Washington State

To The Lechel Family,

I am so so very sorry of Joel’s passing. My brother Marty and Joel were truly the best lifelong friends. I always considered Joel as another brother. His outlook on life was nothing but positive, a great role model for anyone that new him. Myself and my family have  known Joel for years. I am so very glad that Marty was there for all of you, it meant a lot to him and for me. Wish I would have thought of this sooner, there is a   beautiful poem called Sea Fever which would have been most appropriate for his celebration of his life.  I wish all of you and his partner Amy blessings. Treasure the memories that you have.

Warmly,

Colleen Tighe

I met Joel almost 10 years ago. I was at a very low time in my life. He was a friend to me and my little dog Leo.  I was able to escape my worries and enjoy life a little while hanging out with him. I LOVED his stories about his merchant marine days.. he was always making me laugh. I wrote him recently to tell how much he helped me at that time. But I was too late.

Thank you Joel for being a friend when I needed it most.  You were a bright light during a dark time.  Rest well my friend

We are so very, very sorry for your loss. You are all in our thoughts and prayers...He left many fond memories behind and will never be forgotten. May Joel Rest In Peace.
We were so blessed to have met Joel and have him and Amy as neighbors.  He was always so friendly and happy go lucky.  It was always a pleasure visiting with Joel while he was out walking their beloved dog, Tug.  He surely will be missed!

Uncle Joel rented a pontoon for a lake day  at Hubbard Lake. We had me, my sister and mom, Sam, and Joel’s friend on the boat.  It was an old, beat up pontoon painted orange and he was not careful with it. We ended up getting stuck a bunch of times in seaweed and grass but it was the most hilarious day ever.
