Joel's obituary
Joel passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 11, 2024 after a short battle with cancer.
Joel was born in Amarillo, TX on May 26, 1970 to Lois and Thomas Lane. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1988 and moved to Bastrop in 1998 where he planted his roots.
Joel was saved and baptized at Seth Ward Baptist church in Plainview, TX. He loved Jesus with all of his heart and served Him until the day he died. On a given day that looked different. He was always the person to make light of a difficult situation. He always saw the good in every situation and made it an opportunity to share Jesus with people. He didn’t know a stranger and could talk to just about anyone. He would pick the people most would overlook and show them love. He would always say if his story saved just one person then it was worth it
He spent most of his life as a contractor. He could build just about anything and he loved making crosses. He was the handiest. He even used these talents to serve the Lord.
His blues eyes and huge smile brightened the darkest of places. There were not many times you would see him without a smile. All who loved him will miss him deeply.
He was proceeded in death by his mother Lois Sutton of Plainview; father Thomas Lane; two sisters Diana Crowell of Bastrop and Lisa Rogers of Plainview.
He is survived by his two sons, Thomas and Michael Lane, step daughters Kendra Huff and Courtney Frane ; grandson Levi granddaughter Molly and six others; sister Shelly and husband Linden Van Slyke; brother in law Mike Rogers; his sister Dombie and husband Jeremy Jochetz; nieces Mica Rogers, Jordane and Joleigh Jochetz, nephews Stephen and wife Mandy Foster; Justin Rogers; Trevor and wife Kailey Neighbors; Brian and wife Kayla Neighbors; Marcus and wife Katie Beth Rogers; James Spencer; many more beloved family and friends.
