Joe's obituary
Joe Lee Jenkins was the first born of Lonnie Dale Handly and Joe Boyd Jenkins on April 2, 1942, in Monticello Arkansas.
The family moved to California where Joe received his education. He later would take an interest in construction work where he excelled! He could build a house from the ground up and do just about any repair needed on a building.
Being the ladies’ man that he was, he sowed a lot of seeds resulting in 9 biological children. He knew all his children and all of children knew him.
Joe was reared in church and was very knowledgeable in the word. He was ordained as a deacon by the late Reverend Tolson at Mt. Zion MBC in Los Angeles CA.
He was one of the original members of the Los Angeles Temple-Aires Gospel Quartet Group. Joe loved his group and was very proud of them. They traveled all over singing and exploring all the experiences that occurred during their various tours.
On September 29,2001, he married Parelee Sartor and they would start a beautiful life together.
At the suggestion of his wife Parelee, he started his own business “Wood 2 Wood.” His business was very successful, and he had a lot of regular clients. He was able to employ the young men in his group and church teaching them his trade and encouraging them how to work and take care of their families.
He worked until he had a stroke in 2010 and was not able to continue. His loving and devoted wife stayed by his side and continue to encourage him to continue and be strong. Joe had a hard time accepting his new physical condition, but he pressed on.
On Monday December 19, 2022, Joe received his wings and went on to be with the Lord.
