Joe's obituary
Joe L. Hernandez Sr.
This goodbye is not forever. This is not the end. I’ll miss you dearly until we meet again.
Our family is mourning our beloved, Joe L. Hernandez. The 54 year old husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend was surrounded by his family as he departed on April 5, 2023. He fought his brief illness like a warrior up to the end and now he is at peace.
Joe is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Rachel of 25 years. They have an amazing 20 year old son, Joe Jr. who is nicknamed JJ. They live in Sunnyvale and JJ has attended all the schools his dad did. Joe and JJ liked to build Legos and shoot nerf guns.
Joe’s siblings are his best friends. His two older brothers Louie and Abraham always looked out for him. Joe was extremely close and protective of his beautiful younger sister Martha. The Hernandez family settled in Sunnyvale in the late 1960’s. Joe is also adored by a sister-in-law and all his amazing nieces and nephews. Joe’s parents Luis and Concepcion Hernandez passed some years ago, but are now reunited with their son.
For 25 years, Joe worked in construction. He was a Local 270 Union member. Joe worked all over the bay area with some of the largest Contractors. He has been a part of building some of the biggest companies in Silicon Valley. He had a vast knowledge of the industry and held numerous certifications. He was a hard worker but Joe always looked out for the safety of his coworkers. He definitely earned the respect of a lot of smart and tough Union brothers.
Growing up in Sunnyvale, Joe had many friendships. Joe had a joyous nature and contagious laughter. He would say good morning to you if you looked his way. He enjoyed gatherings and was a bit adventurous. He loved music, watching movies and football. He was a huge long time Raider fan. You would see him driving his big black truck with Raider logos, during football season. Joe was a caring, loving, family man. He put his faith in the lord and put his family’s needs first. His family takes comfort in knowing he is with his parents in Gods Kingdom. Their hearts will be full of sorrow for quite a while.
The family has requested the services to be private. It will be on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Spangler Mortuary in Sunnyvale.
