JOE's obituary
JOE GUERRERO went home to Jesus on January 18, 2023 at age 91.
JOE was born to Dionicio & Manuela "Nellie" on March 28, 1931 in San Bernardino, CA. As a child, Joe played baseball when he was allowed to play. At times, his dad would say to him "mijo no school today, you are going to work today picking grapes". joe worked off and on throughout his school days, until his high school graduation. Joe tried out for the basketball team in High School, and did not make the team, due to, Joe being too short . He tried out for the High School Tennis Team and made the team. Not only did he make the tennis team, he turned out to be the best tennis player on the team. There were days, he could not attend the tennis matches against other High Schools, due to, going to work to pick grapes. His Tennis Coach went over where Joe lived to speak to Joe's Father. The Coach said "Can JOE come to school on certain days"(dates of his tennis matches) and his Fathers said, "Only on the days he did not have to work." JOE graduated from Chaffey High School. At the age 19 JOE enlisted in the Army. Joe was a SSGT in the Korea War, fighting in the frontline as a Machine Gunner. JOE fought in Hearbreak Ridge and the emblem was the Indian Head for his regiment for the years 1950-1953. JOE, enjoyed telling his war life story. JOE met his wife, LUPE, in 1949 at the Nazarene Church on 9th St. in Cucamonga. All the girls who attended the church he went to or other local Nazarene Churches who had a crush on JOE didn't have a chance to date, due to falling in Love with LUPE. They married on October 24, 1954 and went on to have Three Daughters, Irene , Sally and Joanna. Joes daughters were three years apart. Three years later, in 1964 , JOE & LUPE ADOPTED A SON, & legally changed his birth name to Joseph Guerrero. JOE, was a dedicated husband and loving father. JOE was his childrens, grandchildren and great grandchildren's HERO. JOE also loved coaching little league baseball and played in a softball league & basketball league for the Nazarene Church. He was a Sunday School Teacher, the Teenager Zone President, teen president and the Treasurer for the Church of the Nazarene Church . Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.
JOE was a hard worker. He always provided for the family and protected his family. Joe worked in Kaiser Steel as an accountant. In 1959, he was layed off from Kaiser Steel. A friend of Joe's told him there was some construction work in Chino. JOE worked in the construction and at 28 yrs old, JOE was electrocuted with 12,000 volts. Joe and a co-worker were guiding the boom crane when all of a sudden the crane hit a powerline and electrocuted JOE & a co-worker. The co-worker died at the scene and JOE was rushed to the Pomona Valley Hospital. He was in the hospital for three months with burns, and his pinky finger and toes on each foot were blown away. After healing from being electrocuted, Joe was called back to Kaiser Steel and moved up in seniority quickly and became a foreman in the Hot Strip Mill for Kaiser Steel. Joe received an early retirement from Kaiser Steel. he then became self employed Income Tax Preparer with his wife LUPE and DAUGHTER Irene were working for and with him and helped him build his clientele. He got to reaching 983 clients who loved JOE and his family. In 2010 Joe retired, and worked part time for his daughter Irene. JOE'S PARENTS DIONICIO & MANUELA and his BROTHER, DAVID have already passed to Heaven. He is survived by his WIFE, LUPE, HIS DAUGHTER IRENE GUERRERO & LARRY GRIMAUD, DAUGHTER, SALLY & MANNY ESTRADA, DAUGHTER, JOANNA OCHOA, SON, JOSEPH GUERRERO, GRANDSON ALBERT & JULIE MONTES DE OCA, GRANDSON, JIMMY GONZALES JR., GRANDSON, JOSEPH & ANNA GONZALES, GRANDSON ROBERT OCHOA, GREAT-GRANDSONS JOSEPH & CHRISTOPHER MONTES DE OCA, GREAT-GRANDAUGHTER, ISABELLA GONZALES, AND GREAT-GRANDAUGHTERS JOANNA & JASMINE GONZALES. GRANDCHILDREN THRU MARRIAGE, GRANDSON GREG GRIMAUD, GRANDAUGHTER & GRANDSON, DANIELLE & ADAM ESTRADA, & GREAT-GRANDSON COBY GRIMAUD.. WHOM ALL LOVED HIM DEARLY ALONG WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS. WE ALL LOVED JOE DEARLY AND WILL FOREVER MISS JOE. UNTIL WE SEE YOU AGAIN.
