Joanne A. Sweet (Pierce)
October 10, 1936 - February 19, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne A. Sweet, a loving matriarch of our family . She left this world on February 19, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on October 10, 1936, in Canandaigua, NY, Joanne spent her life spreading love, kindness, and warmth to all those around her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories. Joanne was an avid golfer, loved playing bridge, bowling, meeting with her classmates from 1954 whether it be their class reunions or monthly dinners. She loved baking, shopping, Frank Sinatra and socializing! Let’s not forget the gamer that she was (she would stay up all night playing video and computer games). Holidays and birthdays, she would glow as she watched her family interact and share joy.
Joanne is survived by her loving family; children: Wayne (Sandi) Sweet, Shari (Ted) Webb, and Renee (Ron) Woodhams. Grandchildren: Ryan (Angel) Sweet, Roy Woodhams, Kathy (Todd) Erb, Trisha (Steven Bournival) Woodhams, Cory Diaz, Casy Diaz, Nicole (Cory) Dill, James Webb, John (Megan) Sweet, Wayne (Jessica Hausman) Sweet, Barbra (Ben Harrison) Sweet, Joshua (Leandra) Sweet, Corey Barber, Alex (Jane) Barber. Great-Grandchildren: Mystique, Alexis, Greyson, Penny, Louie, Hudson, Charlie, Jack, Kimbrly, Cora, Hadley, Marsden, Tavia, Tyler ,Travis, Danielle and Fiona. Siblings: Nell Rosini (Pierce), Charles (Chuck) Pierce, and Gary (Punk) Pierce and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Donald and Helen Pierce, and her siblings; Ed Pierce, Frank Pierce, Ronald (Butch) Pierce, Philip Pierce, Jeanne (Nenie) Pierce, and Janet Doell (Pierce).
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Canandaigua Moose Lodge, 305 Ontario St, Canandaigua, NY 14424, on Saturday, April 26th at 1 PM.
Joanne's family and friends will deeply miss her infectious smile, her generous heart, and her unwavering support. She was an amazing woman, and her love and legacy will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones.
