Joanne's obituary
Joanne F. Rose, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
She was Born on February 14th, 1940 in the town Antwerp, NY. She was a graduate of Gouverneur High School. She worked many jobs throughout the years, but spent 25 of which as a dental assistant.
She married Gerald Rose October 12, 1962 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church. They were married for 34 years when he passed away on July 29th, 1997
One of Joanne’s proudest accomplishments was raising her two granddaughters, Jesse and Kelsey.
She was well taken care of by Jesse and her companion, Robert. They were always just a phone call away no matter the time. They spent countless hours round the clock to assure she was always taken care of and could stay in her home. She was very proud of them both and even through all the times they butted heads, she knew they loved her and could always count on them.
By far, the greatest joy in her life was her great grandson Hudson Gerald! He was the only person that ever had her wrapped around his little finger and she loved every minute of it! The only time she ever had a remotely bad moment with Hudson is when he would get a hold of her bottle of talcum powder and make a mess! But even then, she could only be upset for a minute, then she would laugh.
She enjoyed having weekly lunches with her youngest brother, Mark, but even more so enjoyed calling him to be “a pain in his ass” with her many little projects. She knew those who would always be there for her, that’s for sure!
Joanne will be deeply missed, but leaves many memories with us all.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Jesse Rose (Robert Scott) and a great grandson, her pride and Joy, Hudson, of Gouverneur. A granddaughter, Kelsey and great granddaughter Audrey, of Oswego. A Son Terry (Trudy) Rose, of Gouverneur. Three brothers, James (Barbara) Smith, of Cornwall NY, Hollis Smith, of Lake Wales Florida, and Mark (Kay) Smith, of Gouverneur.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Retha Smith, her husband Gerald Rose, as well as two brothers, Patsy and Denver Smith and two sisters, Pansy Bowhall and Sally Smith.
