Born on April 19, 1939 in Princeton, Missouri, JoAnne lived a full and vibrant life marked by deep devotion to family, a professional career she loved, and a passion for the arts and community.
Throughout her career, JoAnne worked in numerous law offices and ultimately retired in 2009 as an Office Administrator for one of the most prestigious law firms in Denver, Colorado. Her dedication and professionalism left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. After retirement, she relocated to Phoenix, Arizona to be closer to her family-a move that reflected her enduring commitment to those she loved.
JoAnne was the proud mother of three sons: Aaron Walter (Maureen), Jonathan Walter (Jennifer), and Jason Walter (Dawn). She was deeply involved in their lives and those of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren-Meghan, Kara, Caitlin, Jameson, Conor, Dylan, Keira, Holden, Aidan, Davis, and Sadie-offering unwavering support and love throughout the years. Her sister Kay Dennis also survives her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband David Rankin; her mother Mary Ogle (Neill); her father Dennis Ogle; and her brother Kenneth Ogle.
A woman of many talents and interests, JoAnne was an accomplished pianist who found joy in music throughout her life. She was a devoted patron of the arts and enjoyed playing competitive Contract Bridge with friends. Known for her compassion and generosity, she supported numerous charities focused on immigrants' rights, animal welfare, and women's causes. Her love for animals-especially dogs-was another defining aspect of her warm spirit.
In later years, JoAnne moved to Alexandria, Virginia where she resided at Harmony at Spring Hill. There she formed close bonds with both staff and fellow residents. Her sociable nature shone through as she made many dear friends over shared meals and glasses of good wine.
JoAnne's legacy if one of kindness, strength, culture, and connection. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
