Joanne Lane Kauper

1936 - 2022

On the beautiful morning of Tuesday, July 19, 2022, Joanne Elizabeth Lane Kauper “Jody”, A loving wife, an absolutely dedicated mother, and a friend to many, was called home at the age of 85.

Jody was born on November 2, 1936 in Manhattan, New York to Edward and Dorothy (Mitchell) Lane. She was a graduate of Ladycliff College. On July 15, 1961, she married G. Gerard Kauper. Jody bore and raised seven children together with her husband of 61 years.

After graduating from Ladycliff College she worked as a model for the Conover Model Agency in NYC. She also worked for several years as the personal assistant to the legendary industrial designer Raymond Loewy. Later in Jody’s career after raising her 7 children she enjoyed her time working with Barry University in Miami, Florida and Caldwell College located in Caldwell, New Jersey.

Jody was an avid crocheter and loved to gift or donate her creations. She also enjoyed volunteering for various organizations. Jody was known for her powerful sense of humor, big heart, and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Jody was preceded in death by her father, Edward Joseph Lane, and her mother, Dorothy (Mitchell) Lane. She is survived by her husband of 61 years G. Gerard Kauper, her sister Barbara Lane, and her seven children and eight grandchildren: Lane Peterson nee Kauper and her husband, Whitney (children: George Joseph and Genevieve), Gerard Edward (son: Justin), Nicholas George, George Gerard (children: George III and Gavin), Edward Nicholas (children: Nicholas and Anthony), Joseph Lane (daughter: Cassandra), and Christian Lane.

All who knew her and loved her would agree a more loving soul has never graced the earth. As she finished her time on earth she shared with her children “If I could do it all over again, I would have been more loving”. We know this would have been impossible… you are forever loved and always in our hearts.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 22, 2022 at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church located at 144 N. County Rd, Palm Beach, FL 33480. In memory of Joanne, express your love and compassion to all you encounter.
