Joanne's obituary
Joanne B Hoyt, 73, of Castle Rock, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 16, 2024. Joanne lived a life full of learning, adventure, and service to others. Her unwavering faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was the guiding light of her path.
Though frequent moves marked Joanne’s early years, she was always rooted in her loving family as the youngest of three children. In school, she excelled academically, earning numerous awards. She also enjoyed other activities, including painting, choir, Girl Scouts, and caring for her pets. Her passion for science led her to earn a Bachelor of Science from California State University, Chico, and later a Master’s degree from California State University, Fresno.
For over 30 years, Joanne was a dedicated high school science educator, inspiring generations of students with her enthusiasm and commitment to helping her students grow in their potential in education. Her efforts earned her many accolades, reflecting her passion for her career and the lives she touched.
Her love of nature, especially birds, defined much of her life. Joanne was an active member and former president of her local Audubon Society, where she cultivated lasting friendships and embraced countless adventures.
Not long ago, Joanne moved to Castle Rock, Colorado, to be closer to her daughter, Jessica, and her family. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, Sienna and Max, attending their events and creating lasting memories.
Joanne was also deeply involved in her faith communities, serving at Gateway Church in California and Journey Church in Colorado. Over the years, she helped with children and adult ministries, sang in the choir, served as a greeter, and most recently helped with coffee and tea service. She participated in Bible study groups that led to lifelong friendships. She is known for encouraging others with her favorite verse, 1 Peter 5:7 which says, "Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."
Her vibrant spirit extended to her involvement with the local senior center, where she embraced new experiences and fostered meaningful connections. She enjoyed many laughs with her lunch bunch crew and was always excited to further her knowledge through her current events group.
Joanne is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jessica, her son-in-law, Carl, and her cherished grandchildren, Sienna and Max. She is also survived by her devoted sisters, Marilyn and Pat, along with their families, and a wide circle of friends and loved ones. Joanne's enduring legacy of kindness, boundless curiosity, and steadfast faith will continue to inspire and resonate with all who were fortunate to know her.
Joanne has finished her race. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her unwavering faith, love, boundless curiosity, and joyful presence in the lives of those around her.
