JoAnna's obituary
in Harrison, Michigan, to Harold and Marion Allman.
Family and friends were always JoAnna’s passion. Her dinner parties were legendary. She loved setting a beautiful table
and sharing good food and conversation.
Her infectious laugh, love of music and dance made her the life of every party.
JoAnna liked to travel. Her husband Jim would complain she was out running the roads again!
JoAnna traveled to visit family and friends all over Michigan and the United States.
Grandma Jo was always there for her children and grandchildren. It did not matter where her children moved
(and they moved all over the USA as well as Europe), she always put aside time to visit each family.
She spent time with all of her grandkids and had a special relationship with each one of them.
JoAnna was baptized into the Christian faith in 1962 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio.
The church played an important role in her life. She was active in helping confirmation kids learn their memory work,
supplying treats for VBS and special activities, attending bible studies, and serving on the altar guild.
Throughout her life and many moves she was involved in the churches’ altar guild.
She enjoyed inviting her friends at Covered Bridge to her church in Lake Placid,
especially to the ladies’ Christmas tea where she set a beautiful table for friends while sharing the reason for the season.
Her Christmas tea was such a big favorite that at her summer church, Christ the King in Bellevue, Washington,
the Christmas Tea has become an annual event in its 3rd year.
JoAnna was an independent spirit. She was a working mom when few women worked outside the home.
JoAnna worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 30 years and truly enjoyed each day until her retirement in 1983.
She was an active member of the Lutheran Church, The Bell Telephone Pioneers and The Red Hatters.
Her life was full with: Friends, family, travel, volunteer work, dancing, campfires, and playing golf.
JoAnna was a generous woman who liked to have fun!
JoAnna was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Jim Taylor, brothers Ham Allman and Wayne Allman.
She is survived by her brother, Harold Allman, her sister, Joyce Campbell,
her daughter Kimberly Morris and her husband Patrick of Rancho Cucamonga, CA;
her son Thomas Taylor and his wife Loraine of Lake Placid, FL;
her daughter Robinette Mau and her husband Jon of Bellevue, WA;
her son Christopher Taylor and his wife Ruth of Ludington, MI.
She also leaves 10 cherished grandchildren, their spouses, and 5 beautiful great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on the June 29th, 2019 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio, MI
with the Rev. Jon Mau presiding.
The family would like to thank all of those who cared for JoAnna in her last days.
She so enjoyed the visits from friends.
