On June 2nd 2023, Mrs. Irma “Joann” Snodgrass Moffa, 89, of Summerville, SC passed away peacefully at the home she shared with her daughter Karen and grandson Nicholas. Joann was ushered home to heaven under a beautiful night sky and full moon.

Joann was born on October 8, 1933 and is the cherished daughter of the late Reverend Festus and Irma Snodgrass. Joann was born and raised in the mountains of Virginia with her parents and three brothers, Sandy, Jim, and John. Her first venture away from home brought her to New York City due to a job transfer while working for Tennessee Eastman Kodak. It was in New York City where she met Louis P. Moffa, whom she would marry and spend the next 60 years together. Theirs was a marriage of true love, honor, and respect and they were blessed to have each other. In addition, we were all blessed to be loved by them.

Wherever Joann went she was most active in her church community. She enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school to all ages, working tirelessly on the prayer chain, and volunteering whenever possible. Joann is a beautiful soul and is truly loved and adored by all those who knew her.

Joann was always giving of herself to help others and she was considered by many to be an angel here on earth. All who knew her knew that she was a safe haven, offering unconditional love and advice. Joann dedicated herself to her family with Lou, raising two daughters, Karen and Jennifer. As the family grew with marriages, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Joann’s unfailing love has touched our lives deeply and she will be dearly missed always.

Family Who Went Before

Joann was predeceased by her parents Festus and Irma, her brother Sandy, and husband Louis P. Moffa who passed in July of 2020.

Family She Left Behind

She is survived by her (2) daughters, (4) grandchildren and (3) great grandchildren.

Daughter Karen Moffa-Floyd, grandson Nicholas Floyd, granddaughter Amber Floyd and her fiancé Michael Lawrence, great grandchildren Connor, Cyleigh, and Allyssa.

Daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Bill McFarland, grandson Mitchel, granddaughter Marissa and her fiancé James.
