How you can help
Joan was a champion for many humans, particularly women and children. Her passion and dedication to helping kids learn, grow, gain self-confidence, become independent, make friends, and be happy was one of her main reasons for supporting the Hawkeye Campership Fund since day 1. She knew and believed in the value of a diverse and inclusive sleep-away summer camp for all humans. Joan worked throughout her life to dismantle sterotypes and stigmas through much of the work she did with adults. Camp Hawkeye does similar work with children through play and living together in community during the summer.
Each donation will go directly to help fund a child's tuition for camp. Nearly $70,000 is granted in scholarships each summer so kids, who otherwise wouldn't be able to get the life changing benefits of camp, can attend a 2 or 4 week session. Contribute
