Joan's obituary
Our beloved Joan Elaine Pipersburgh passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on the date of April 25, 2024. Joan was born on June 13, 1953 to Mervin and Roxanne Pipersburgh in Belize City, Belize (formally known as British Honduras). Upon arriving in the U.S., Joan settled in Chicago, Illinois where she pursued her passion as a Cosmetologist for over ten years. Eventually, she relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where she retired from the Department of Health Services after 25 years.
Joan studied the Bible, dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized on July 13, 1994. At that point, she made it a goal to inculcate bible principles in her daily life. Throughout her life, Joan displayed many godly characteristics that made her such a beautiful person. She was hospitable, patient with others, showed compassion, and had a humble spirit. No matter who you were, she made it a goal to serve you and made sure you were comfortable. If you needed words of advice and comfort, she provided it; if you needed a listening ear, she provided that as well. She always made time for her loved ones.
Joan enjoyed life to the fullest. She was known to host the most iconic card parties and enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, cooking delicious meals, spending time with family and friends, as well as the resident DJ when it was time to get the music playing. The way she prepared and stretched a meal was Christlike; no matter how many people stopped over to come eat, there was always enough and more.
She was a beloved sister, cherished by her last surviving aunt Alexie Reneau, and surviving siblings: Prudence Holmes, Alice Gabourel (Austin), Jean Battle (Jesse), Audrey Pipersburgh, Kimberly Pipersburgh, Christopher Pipersburgh (Yvonne), Alison Pipersburgh (Mauri), Joseph Pipersburgh (Kym), Paul Pipersburgh (Angela), Sydney Pipersburgh, Andrew Pipersburgh, Mervin Pipersburgh (Raylene), Marjorie, Leonard and Hilda Pipersburgh. She also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Mervin & Roxanne Pipersburgh and brothers, Mark, Ian and Evan Pipersburgh. Joan will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
