Joan Hurley, 88, of Cedar Park, TX, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2025. Joan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She touched the lives of everyone she met.
She is survived by her youngest daughter Diana Hurley-Goodin & son-in-law Dave Goodin; sister Joyce Holdren (Bill); son-in-law John Coolidge; her grandchildren, Jenny Shima (Mark), Michelle Provolt (Justin), and Austin Coolidge. She is also survived by her two step-granddaughters Blythe Goodin-Savera & Molly Goodin-Hester ( Zach). Joan was the proud great-grandmother of Charlotte Shima, Audrey Provolt , Jackson Goodin-Savera & Carter Goodin-Savera and leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends who adored her.
Joan was born to Claude and Maude Dunn on March 18, 1936. On June 29, 1957, she married the love of her life, Jack Hurley, in 1957 and together they built a life centered on love, hard work, and family. In October of 1960, they welcomed their first daughter Debbie, and six years later, in July of 1966, their youngest, Diana, who completed their family. While both Joan & Jack were born in NE Missouri, they spent over 50 years making their home and raising their family in Clarendon Hills, IL. Joan and Jack were inseparable, and their marriage was a beautiful testament to unconditional love and devotion.
Joan was a woman of extraordinary strength, intelligence, and generosity. She wore many hats throughout her life—beautician, beauty school instructor, and business owner—all while helping Jack manage Hurley Landscaping. She was hardworking and resourceful, but her true joy was found in her family. Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife who fiercely protected and cherished her loved ones.
Known for her kind yet sassy spirit, Joan had a way of making everyone feel special. She found joy in gardening, singing, dancing, and baking—especially during the holidays when she filled her home with the sweet aroma and endless supply of Christmas cookies. With a green thumb and a heart full of love, Joan nurtured vibrant, colorful flowers that bloomed throughout the season. Her gardens, always abundant, were a reflection of her care and dedication, bringing joy to all. Sunday dinners with her best friend, Arlene Griffin, and her family were among her most cherished traditions, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Joan’s life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. She gave selflessly, helped anyone in need without hesitation, and filled her home with warmth and laughter. She loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother and was often heard bragging about her little loves.
Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace with our Lord and Savior. She dancing across heaven as she is reunited with her beloved husband, Jack, her eldest daughter Debbie Coolidge ( Hurley) whom she adored and the friends & family who were certainly waiting for her with joy, peace and love.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at the Baring Country Club in Missouri on Thursday, July 17, 2025 @ 4:00 pm. Then a memorial celebration & grave side burial will be held on Saturday July, 19,2025 @ 1:30 pm. Immediately after we will gather at the family’s favorite, Falcos Pizza in Burr Ridge.
Joan will be deeply missed but never forgotten, and her legacy of love will live on in the hearts all who knew her.
We’ll meet again where love never ends.
