Joan's obituary
Joan Violet Calico Hoffman, 88, went to dance with Jesus in the ballroom of Heaven on May 19th, 2024 with the tunes of Elvis and Fats Domino playing in the background.
Joan (Maw Maw) was born on November 4th, 1935 to Pascal and Violet Calico in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her entire life is defined by her love of family and faith in God. She had four siblings; Clara Bertacci (deceased), Jackie Abadie, Celie Locascio (deceased), and PJ Calico, Jr.
Joan was employed as a secretary by First National Bank of Commerce in downtown New Orleans. After 32 years of service, she retired in November 2000.
Maw Maw Joan was highly active in our families lives from every family function (birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, crawfish boils, pool parties, etc) to her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren's dance, cheerleading, soccer, football, and baseball. If you saw anyone in our family, more than likely you saw her also. To say she will be greatly missed is an understatement. Our lives will be forever changed without her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Lockwood and Joan LaLa, five grandchildren, and nine greatgrandchildren.
On Monday, June 17th at St. Luke's Church in Slidell, LA there will be a 10:30 AM visitation and a mass following at 11:00AM held in her honor.
