Joan Marion Bernstein passed unexpectedly at home on April 24, 2025. She was with her beloved husband Steve at their new home in Hardeeville South Carolina .

Joan was born in Brooklyn, NY  to mother and father Mildred and John Dempsey.  Joan had 3 siblings ; Mildred , John T Dempsey ( sadly passed in 2023) and Eileen.

Joan married Gaetano Ralph Saracino in 1963 and had two children; Donna and Joanne.  Gaetano (Tom) passed when the girls were 11 and 16.

Joan married Steven Jan Bernstein in 1992 and started their new life together in Staten Island NY.  They later moved to Providence Forge, Virginia , then to Hardeeville South Carolina.

Joan was proud to be a grandmother of four;  Mark and Matthew ; sons of Donna and John Schlichting  ; Zachary and Logan, sons of Joanne and John Yelich.

Joan is survived by husband Steven J Bernstein , daughters Donna Saracino-Schlichting  and Joanne Yelich, her four grandsons Mark, Zachary,  Matthew and Logan,  and her siblings Mildred Overes and Eileen Balcom .
