Joey's obituary
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, Joey Gelinas died peacefully in her home in Vilcabamba, Loja, Ecuador on May 30 at the age of 75.
She is survived by her husband Wayne Brasda, daughter Kim Vogel Rowden and son-in-law Edgar Rowden; grandchildren Jessica Day, Courtney Vogel, Kayla Krueger, Nathan Krueger, and Melissa Decker; and great-grandchildren Addison, Xena, Abbigail, and Leonardo. She was predeceased by daughter Lori Vogel.
Joey was born in Manchester, Connecticut to parents Joe and Edith Reynolds in 1947. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1965 and the University of Hartford in 1969. She raised her children Kim and Lori with former husband Eric Vogel in Connecticut, then moved to Arizona in 1991. She called Arizona her home until 2018, when she moved to Ecuador to live out her golden years.
Joey will be remembered fondly both for her kind heart and commanding presence, as well as her love of all animals both large and small. Private memorial services will be held in both Loja and Arizona. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the World Wildlife Fund can be made in her honor.
