It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Jo Ann Mckenzie, aged 91, who left us peacefully on January 15, 2025. Born on September 17, 1933, Jo Ann lived a life full of adventure, love, and commitment to her family and country.
As a devoted widow of Major George Ray Mckenzie, a brave Green Beret in the U.S. Army, Jo Ann shared a remarkable journey that spanned the globe as they both dedicated themselves to serving their nation. Their travels enriched her life with diverse experiences and lifelong friendships, yet her heart always found its home in El Paso, TX, where they eventually settled.
In El Paso, Jo Ann channeled her passion for art into a thriving career, providing exquisite artwork to enhance the spaces of numerous professional buildings. Her keen eye for beauty transformed lobbies and offices, and her work left a lasting impression on those who had the pleasure of experiencing her vision. Jo Ann’s artistic talents were matched only by her generosity of spirit, as she would often give of herself to support numerous local initiatives and community endeavors.
Jo Ann will be forever cherished by her adoring family. She is survived by her beloved sons: Kenneth John Mckenzie, Kit Allen Mckenzie, Kim Mckenzie, and Kevin Grant Mckenzie. The light of her life also included her grandson, Chris Mckenzie, who held a special place in her heart. Jo Ann's legacy will continue to live on through them, as they carry forward the cherished values and lessons she instilled in them.
