Jim made a profound impact on my first year at work. He stopped by my desk every morning to check in and see how I was adjusting, and he often joined the team for lunch, sharing stories that were funny, inspiring, and unforgettable. His presence was deeply felt throughout his entire battle and profoundly missed by all who knew him. Jim is truly irreplaceable. He had a rare way of lighting up a room, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have worked with him and to have known him.

Truly saddened by the loss of Jim. He was the kind of person who made work feel lighter just by being there.  Always welcoming, endlessly supportive, and never too busy to help anyone who needed it. His kindness was genuine, consistent, and felt by everyone around him. Jim showed up for people without hesitation, and that generosity of spirit is something I’ll always admire and remember. He will be deeply missed.

I was so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I had the pleasure of working closely with Jim for a number of years, and was continually impressed by his marriage of professionalism and personalization. One of his defining characteristics was that he valued everyone around him, you could feel it in how he truly listened, teased where appropriate, dignified others even when frustrated, and frequently reached out to see how you were doing, not with your tasks, but personally. He will be sorely missed.

Jim’s kindness and patience spoke louder than words. He treated everyone with dignity and care, and he will be greatly missed.

I was saddened when I heard the news of Jim's passing.  He will be missed by all who knew him. 

I knew Jim for almost three years.  He was an executive that was part of the hiring team that brought me aboard.  Jim was a consummate professional, and always personable and supportive.  He made special efforts get me acclimated to the company.  I enjoyed seeing him at corporate events and he always took the time to speak with me.  Jim left a lasting impression on all those who knew him.  He will be dearly missed.

Jim was a genuinely kind soul who welcomed me warmly as a new leader at Berkshire Hathaway. He was always available and responsive. He was professional with a kindness that was true. I know he will be missed by his family and loved ones. He is also missed by his Berkshire Hathaway Family. He left a big hole.... my thoughts and prayers to all.

I only met Jim a couple of times but he definitely had a wonderful contagious positive energy and was so diligent and professional.

No doubt, he was an amazing man. My condolences to his family as he will be sorely missed.

Jim was always kind and helpful. I remember at a conference in The Berkshires, speaking to him all through dinner. He treated everyone as equals. I was a longtime agent from our Scarsdale office but relatively new to Berkshire Hathaway at the time.
