Jimmy's obituary
Jimmy Donald Gleason, 86, of Littleton, CO passed away on Saturday April 23, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family, rejoining the love of his life, Helen JoAnne (Jodie) Gleason.
Jim was born in Lincoln, NE, but lived his entire life in Colorado. A graduate of Denver University, Jim was a baseball pitcher who went on to work for the US Geological Survey as an Isotype Geologist and holds many professional publications.
A “gentle giant,” Jim embodied the ideal husband, father, grandfather, teammate, and friend. He lived every day with Jodie as an adventure, carrying her in his heart as he bravely lived 14 years without her.
An avid skier, tennis player, fly fisherman, bike rider, it was his support and love of his family that defines his spirit, attending every possible sporting or theatre event his children and grandchildren performed.
His ability to make friends everywhere he went existed until his last day with us, and his motto known by all was “Carpe Diem.”
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Jodie, parents Agatha and Willard Gleason, brother Jerry Gleason, nephew Jeff Gleason, sister SallySue Burnside, sister-in-law Bette Ervin.
Survived by daughter Kristi Gleason, granddaughter Sabrina Trujillo, daughter Katie Newell (Andrew Gibbs), granddaughter Kaitlyn Kempf (Kyle Kempf), great-grandson Brooks Kempf, grandson Josh Newell (Cara Newell), brother in-law Gerard “Jerry” Ervin, sister in-law Jane Gleason, nephew’s Dave Gleason, Bill Gleason, and Carl Burnside, and their extended family members.
In his own words, “I have had the most incredible life.”
