Jimmy's obituary
We sadly announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Jimmy Ellison on February 27, 2026. Born on May 31, 1947, Jimmy lived a fulfilling life, touching the hearts of everyone he encountered. His infectious spirit, generosity, and notorious prankster personality will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ellison, his children, Kim Gildawie Ellison, James Ellison Jr and his wife Patty , Eric and Jen Rosenblum, Gayle and Tom Laughlin and his cherished grandsons, Cliff Gildawie and his wife Jenna and Shane Laughlin . Jimmy loved these boys very much ! He is also survived by his beautiful great granddaughters Kinsleigh Gildawie and Kaia, his sisters Vivian and Brian Caden and Renee Young as well as his nieces and nephews! His family was the joy of his life, and he doted on them with love and pride.
Jimmy was a proud Air Force Veteran from 1966 -1970 . He then spent the next 35 years with the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier in Freehold NJ. He also served as their Union President where he fought hard for his fellow letter carriers. He then devoted his retirement time to serving others by volunteering at the Sarasota National Cemetery and worked at Laurel Oak Country Club golf course.
Loving golf, Jimmy could often be found on the course, golf club in hand and a smile on his face. Among his favorite pastimes was indulging in a plate of spaghetti while enjoying the music of Bruce Springsteen, creating an atmosphere of comfort and happiness that encapsulated his homely nature.
Jimmy's philosophy of life was simple, but profound - to be a better person. He carried this principle with him, teaching by example and inspiring others to grow and improve.
A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Mr. Ellison on April 14, 2026, at 11 am at the Sarasota National Cemetery . It will be an opportunity to pay respects and remember a man who epitomized kindness, generosity, and a love for life.
In his memory, let us strive to embody the virtues he held dear. Let us remember Jimmy Ellison, not just for his achievements but the joy he brought to our lives.!
