Background
On August 8, 2026 our dad departed this cold world. Jimmie D. Owten Sr (73) was a man that would make you laugh and scratch your head within minutes. He would show you love and curse you out in the same breath. He was stubborn and persistent. And in his later stages of life he was alone.
Dad, died at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, LA. At that point in his life, he was homeless. His death is an unexpected tragedy that his children and family are trying to navigate. We have decided to do everything we can to give our dad the best home-going we can.
We (Sonya, Rico, & Brandon) have decided to have his body cremated in the area where he lived. We will hold at least 1 memorial service in his honor in Marrero, LA, with the possibility of a 2nd in Clarksdale, MS where he was born. Every bit of the funds raised will go to covering the costs, specifically; cremation, urns, venue costs, and printing of obituaries and flyers.
