Jimmie's obituary
Jimmie Funk Sr., a determined and indomitable soul, passed away on January 25, 2025. Born on June 8, 1944, Jimmie lived a full and vibrant life, always exhibiting the qualities of a fighter and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was renowned for his stubborn, hard-headed, yet strong-minded persona, and left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege to know him.
During his downtime, Jimmie enjoyed quiet solitude, often found playing Solitaire or watching episodes of The Price is Right. He held a fondness for old western movies, which was not only a favorite pastime but also a source of joy. An aficionado of simple pleasures, Jimmie loved partaking in a diet of omelets topped with salsa and relished the sweet, citrusy notes of Sunkist.
A man who found physical vitality in the most unconventional ways, Jimmie kept fit by engaging in bird-watching activities. He was also blessed with a formidable stubbornness that came to the fore in his approach to life and during his stint as a war veteran.
Throughout his life, Jimmie welcomed three children in his family, in the years 1964, 1969 and 1972 respectively, each marking a new chapter in his journey of parenthood. His legacy continues through his loving wife, Vicki Rushing, his cherished niece, Patricia Funk, and beloved granddaughter, Kayla Kraich. He now joins his parents, Jake and Chicki Funk, in eternal peace.
"His wings were ready but our hearts were not" – this poignant phrase resonates with everyone who held Jimmie dear to their hearts. He was, and will always remain, a symbol of strength, resilience, and undying spirit. We raise a glass of Sunkist to celebrate the life of this remarkable man, whose memory will be kept alive in the hearts of his loved ones.
