With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of James Pauley Sharp, age 86, who left us in August 2025.

James was born on March 11, 1939, delivered by Dr. Ira Wagner on North state street Ephrata, Pennsylvania.

He was the son of James Woodrow Sharp and Nora R. Pauley Sharp. 

James was a longtime resident of Arizona, where he built his life and career.

He is survived by his children:

• Danielle “Les” Shook of Colorado

• James Sharp of Arizona

• Chad “Lynde” Sharp of Arizona

He is also survived by his siblings:

• Barbara A. Sharp Ruof of Lancaster

• Linda L. Richter of Lancaster

James was blessed with many beloved grandchildren.

He graduated from Cocalico High School, Class of 1956, and proudly served in the U.S. Army Military Police during the 1960s. After his military service, James pursued a career in law enforcement as a detective with the Phoenix, Arizona Police Department, retiring with disability.

James will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his commitment to his community.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A service will be held at a later time.
