Jim's obituary
Originally from Mount Prospect, IL, Jim attended Saint Louis University and earned a degree in Physical Therapy. He worked for years as a physical therapist in Seattle, southern California, and Craig, CO. It was Steamboat Springs Jim considered his nirvana, where he lived for many years before moving to Littleton.
Jim loved the great outdoors. He was an avid cyclist, hiker, skier, and mountain biker. An accomplished guitarist, Jim played by ear and could pick up a song after hearing just a few notes.
For the last six years, Jim was a most-loved instructor and personal trainer at Snap Fitness in Roxborough. One of his favorite things to do was lead hikes on some of Colorado's most magnificent 13ers as well as an annual trip up the Manitou Incline.
Jim was an excellent cook who delighted in feeding people. ("The secret ingredient? Love.")
But he may well be remembered most for his extraordinary wit and great sense of irony, from a groan-inducing Dad joke to a well-timed anecdote.
Jim is survived by his brother Lee Hooper of Littleton, his beloved nephew and niece Oliver and Lucie, his cousin Tony Russell of Laguna Niguel, CA, his girlfriend Debra McQueen, and countless devoted friends.
An outdoor celebration of Jim's life is planned for May 22 in Roxborough.
