Jim was actively involved in the formation, development, construction, and operation of the Avalon Ballroom, which is partially owned and managed by the Boulder Dance Coalition, a coalition of dance organizations that present events there. Jim contributed his acoustic engineering talents to ensure the sound quality in each of the ballrooms. Jim served on the BDC board of directors for many years. Jim was an avid hiker and skier, and highly concerned about preservation of wildlife and nature.
