Jewell's obituary
Jewell Carolyn Wilson, 82, a resident of Mobile, AL, went home to Jesus, with her family by her side, on October 9, 2025 after a long battle with lymphoma.
Jewell was the daughter of the late Samuel W. Oliver, Sr. and Myrtle C. Oliver and was born in Galveston, TX on July 21, 1943. Jewell was raised in Orange Beach, AL and graduated from Foley High School. She spent most of her career as a customer service representative working for Gayfer's Credit and Citicorp Financial. Later in life, she worked in Medical Records at Springhill Hospital and then became a caregiver.
She was grounded by her faith and prior to her failing health, she enjoyed attending church and Sunday school, and was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. Jewell cherished her family and friends. She had a caring heart, adored animals, especially cats, and loved being the center of attention.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clyde H. Wilson, and two brothers, Samuel W. Oliver, Jr., and Leo Clifton Oliver.
She is survived by her three children, James E. Dunnam (Tammy), Charlene D. Jordan (Eddie), and Charles D. Dunnam (Carole), four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in the Chapel on October 25, 2025. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org)
The family wishes to send special thanks to all of Jewell's dear friends who supported her throughout the years, and to her longtime medical professionals for their compassionate care.
Jewell will be sadly missed by her "spoiled" cat named Blaze along with all the other neighborhood strays.
Psalm 23 - King James Version
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
