Background
About "The Jessie Mae Bays Memorial Scholarship"- My mother was born and raised in a generation and time where going to school beyond 3rd grade was not benefited to her. However, education was important to her in that she studied from home at the kitchen table to teach herself to read & write. The Jessie Mae Bays Memorial Scholarship will carry on my mother's legacy in providing support to students who are pursuing a post high school education at a college, university or technical school in the state of Mississippi, where she was born, raised & lived for over 80 years.
***A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying candidate on each future birthday of my mother on July 23rd. Contribute
