Jessica's obituary

San Angelo, Texas – Jessica J. Walker, age 43, passed away on October 31, 2025, following a courageous journey with cancer.

Jessica is survived by her mother, Jane M. Walker of San Angelo, TX; father, Charles B. Walker of Canandaigua, NY; sister, Allison Walker-Alred and her husband Steven; and her beloved nephew, Anderson Clay Alred, all of San Angelo. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Essie R. and William J. Mitchell of Canandaigua; grandmother, Dolores Walker of Canandaigua; brother, Brian Walker, formerly of Shortsville; and her cherished Labrador retrievers, Tracker and Fannie Mae.

Jessica grew up in Shortsville, New York, where she attended Shortsville-Manchester (Red Jacket) Central School. During her school years, she enjoyed playing softball and developed a love for girls’ baseball, especially after watching A League of Their Own. She treasured attending All-American Girls Professional Baseball League reunions over the years—a community she joyfully followed for decades afterward. Jessica also loved traveling, with treasured family trips to Myrtle Beach, weekend getaways to Toronto, memorable excursions to Maine, Florida, Tennessee, and an art history trip to Europe.

Her many passions included doll collecting, the Muppets, Edwardian fashion, trains, puzzles, board games, and cheering for the Buffalo Bills. She is fondly remembered for her big heart and easy laughter.

Jessica's fascination with trains began in childhood. As trains rumbled through Shortsville, she would often run down the street to wave at the conductors passing by. That love of trains stayed with her throughout her years living in Memphis, Tennessee, and San Angelo, Texas. She visited train museums and depots whenever she could and even traveled by train on many trips back to New York. For Jessica, the sound of a train whistle was a sign of good fortune. Whenever you hear one in the distance, may you be reminded of her joyful spirit and know she’s wishing you good luck, too.

A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua, on November 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at The Other Half Brewing Company, 24 Lakeshore Dr., Canandaigua, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jessica’s honor to the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC) via their website at https://foundationforwomensca… or to Hospice of San Angelo (via West Texas Rehab).  https://westtexasrehab.org/on…
