Jessica's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jessica Basta-Audsley, who left us on October 5, 2024. Jessica was born on November 1, 1984, and in her 39 years, she touched many lives with her kindness, courage, and a distinctly loving approach to life.
Jessica is survived by her loving partner, Robert Strohmeyer, and her cherished children, Alison Audsley and Russell Strohmeyer. She also leaves behind her devoted parents, Barbara and Wayne Basta, and her caring siblings, Coleen Johnston and Wayne Basta II. Jessica's vivacious spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jessica had a deep fondness for comfort food, most notably her mom's homemade egg McMuffins and pot roast, along with Crispix mix. She was an avid reader who found an irresistible allure in historical crime books and forensics. A lover of cinema, Jessica was passionate about horror movies and had a soft spot for 'Titanic'.
As an enthusiastic supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, she often found herself in friendly debates about the team's performances. Jessica's leisure time was often spent playing video games, camping, and most importantly, creating countless memorable moments with her kids.
Jessica was a true advocate for important causes including PTSD and other Mental Health Research and Support. Her compassion was evident in her support for these causes and she often spent her time absorbed in learning more about them.
Among her notable accomplishments was saving a man's life from a house fire after discovering him passed out inside. It was a testament to Jessica's instinctive desire to help others and her fearlessness in face of life-threatening situations. Her favourite colour was never set in stone, often saying it 'depends on the day' - a well-rounded reflection on her vibrant personality.

Jessica's spirit will live on in the hearts of many, and she will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her courage, and her advocacy for causes she truly believed in. May she rest in peace.
