We mourn the loss of Jesse Vandegrift, who passed away on March 9, 2026. He was born on July 9, 1977, to Patricia and the late Howard Gilmore Vandegrift. Jesse touched the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing him and will be deeply missed.

Jesse is survived by his son, Jasper;  his mother, Patricia Vandegrift; his brothers, Ron Hessinger, Chris Hessinger, Dale Vandegrift; and his sisters, Betsy Hessinger and Becky Jarrell. He was predeceased by his father, Howard Gilmore Vandegrift, and his brother, Todd Vandegrift.

Jesse was a proud alumnus of Penn State University. He carried the "We Are" spirit with him throughout his life, a testament to the impact his education had on his character and the making of lifelong friendships. A compassionate advocate at heart, Jesse spent his life serving the disabled community. He brought deep love and empathy to his roles at Access Services and other caregiving agencies, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those he assisted and the colleagues who worked alongside him.

In his personal life, Jesse was a beloved father to his son, Jasper. He also found joy in his extensive sports card and memorabilia collection, curating pieces of history that reflected his enduring love of sports.

Jesse will be fondly remembered not just for his kind heart but for his unwavering compassion and the love he had for his family and friends. His spirit will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.
