Jesse's obituary

Jesse Figueroa, 73 passed away at his home in Mira Loma, CA home on February 21, 2023. Jesse was a grandfather, father, brother, and a Navy veteran who served his country proudly.

Jesse was born on April 14, 1949 in Los Angeles, CA to his parents Jesus and Soledad "Mary" Figueroa  and he was the oldest of six children.  When he was just 20, Jesse decided he wanted to join the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Naval Base San Diego in San Diego, CA.  He served his country for two years before being honorably discharged.  After serving in the Navy, Jesse lived in La Puente, CA. During his time in La Puente, he met and fell for his sister Jerry's best friend, Sherry Brown, whom he married in 1976.  Jesse and Sherry first chose to settle in the town of Ontario, CA.  They would go on to live in Crestline, CA and Rancho Cucamonga, CA as well.  Jesse and Sherry had their daughter Jessica in 1977 and their son David in 1983.  Jesse spent most of his working years as a forklift mechanic for Alpha Beta where he became very involved in his union.  After working at Alpha Beta for 25 years, he transitioned into his new role as a Business Rep for The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, where he served until his retirement.  When he wasn’t working, Jesse had a passion for baseball.  He was a huge Dodgers fan with season tickets, he played on multiple baseball teams, coached Jessica and David in T-Ball, and his favorite flavor of ice cream was Baseball Nut at Baskin Robbins.  For many years, Jesse was an active member of Pomona First Baptist Church where he served as Head Usher and on the Deacon/Deaconess board with Sherry.  During his retirement, he enjoyed trips to Laughlin, movies, and spending time with his family.  He is survived by his daughter Jessica, his son David, grandson Austin, and granddaughters Bailey, Liliana, and Mia.

The family requests that donations be made to Homes for Our Troops in lieu of flowers.
