Jesse's obituary

My big brother Jesse Darrell Davis Jr. was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on February 6, 1958 to Jesse Darrell Davis Sr. And Gloria Davis. He grew up all over the USA as our dad was in the United States Air Force. We are military brats. After high school, he had a brief career in the Navy. After the Navy, he then began driving a flatbed tractor trailer delivering hay in Southern California. This brought him to many horse ranches which then led him into the rodeo circuit. He tried his hand in the rodeo riding bulls and he loved it. After getting bored by a bull’s horn, he left the rodeo (probably after momma begged him to) and became a long haul truck driver. He was inspired by our uncle A.D. (Arthur Dobbins), who was a truck driver at the time. He drove a semi for 47 years. He had a spotless driving record for all of those years. He was a highway angel helping other motorists stranded or in accidents. Darrell (Jesse) passed away on October 27, 2025, surrounded by family, after a very short battle with aggressive cancer. Darrell donated his body to cancer research in an effort to help others. That is just who he was at his core. He was preceded in death by his brother Timothy Davis, who died one month after being born, his sister Michele Davis, his father, Jesse Davis Sr., and his mother, Gloria Davis. He is survived by his baby sister, Angela Lagor and her husband Alfred Lagor III, his love of his life Bonnie Jones (James), his daughter Denise Davis, his son, Jesse Davis III, along with numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He was a special man who loved truck driving, his family, his trucker family (whom he had a deep bond), and seeing the USA. He will be greatly missed. I love you big brother forever.
