June Smith
Scotts Valley, CA, USA
I became friends with Jerry while he was working at Bargetto Winery. My late husband Jim and I co-owned a winery near Scotts Valley, where Jerry also lived, so we often attended wine events together. Later, when I was hired to write a wine column for Examiner.com I invited him to be my partner co-writer. He was a good writer but didn't know the rules of online writing, yet he took to it in no time at all! We wrote scores of columns about Santa Cruz Mountain wines until Examiner.com went off-line.  We remained good friends over the following years.

Jerry was so loved by all who knew him! I have such sweet memories of him, always a smile, always a kind word! Sue, I’m so happy you and Jerry had that  time together!!!! So so special!
Jerry and I met when we were 19 when he visited his Uncle Phil in Illinois. Soon we were both in College in LA. There were some great people there, but we both discovered we were a bit too liberal for the school. Jerry & I shared my first bottle of wine together - who knew that would lead to Jerry's life in the wine business. We lived many miles apart over the last 40 years, but managed to keep in touch by phone, email and occasional visits. After his stroke we kept in touch directly and through Sue. I have felt his absence during the last weeks and am enriched by having him in my life. RIP my friend.

Just wanted to support Sue who sat next to me at Michael's On Main during My Bubba's event.
Dearest Sue,
What a blessed woman you were to have the love Jerry bestowed upon you for those few short years.
Jerry was rewarded by your generosity of spiritual love and the kindest care imaginable. May God Speed.

Love & light to you both
Jerry and I worked together as couriers at BofA.  Many road trips and wine tasting.  He will truly be missed.
Sweet Kind Jerry who loved Sue abundantly, you will be missed

Jerry was one of a kind!

He filled the room with his laughter and love.  We spent many precious years together in total fun antics and love.

Jerry will never be forgotten!

“ See you in Heaven “ and the party will continue 😘✝️

I remember that Jerry was always a sweet guy, we had classes together but we never talked much. I remember his signing my yearbook with the star symbol for his name and through the years this made me always think about who he was. Hearing about his stroke made me sad, and I hope memories of your love for each other can give you comfort.
Sincerely,
Laura Osher Frank
After I was hired to write a column on the wines of the Santa Cruz Mountains for Examiner.com, my request to have a co-writer was accepted.
Of course, I wanted my good friend, Jerry, what better choice!? He was happy to jump in and write about the wines, while I wrote about the people. We wrote weekly until Examiner.com went offline. It was a beautiful partnership.
Sue! I'm so sorry.. Jerry was such a bright light. You too are an Angel and I am sending you love ❤️ I'm so sorry for your loss.
