Jerry's obituary

JERRY SALOMONE July 4, 1930 – January 20, 2022
Jerry Salomone, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away on January 20, 2022. He was surrounded by his family as he peacefully transitioned.
Jerry was born in Metuchen, NJ to Ralph and Anna Salomone. He lived in Metuchen and Edison for over 80 years before moving to his most current place of residence, Manalapan, NJ.
Jerry attended Metuchen High School and patriotically served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he continued his education in real estate at Rutgers University.
He worked for 25 years as the Executive Vice President of Berg Enterprises before his entrepreneurial passion took over and he became a successful, independent real estate broker spearheading real estate development and sales in New Jersey, Florida, and Hilton Head, SC.
His limitless energy and his “dream it, do it” attitude led to the success of other entrepreneurial endeavors including Mobile Lube (a mobile oil changing car service) and KorClean (a carpet cleaning company). His passion for fine dining fueled his desire to open and successfully manage a restaurant, Culinary Rennaissance, in Metuchen for over a decade.
Jerry most loved vacationing with his wife Judy. Their yearly trips to Maine were a must so they could enjoy his favorite food, lobster. He valued family time with his children and grandchildren in Disney World, Fort Lauderdale, Hilton Head, and the Berkshires.
An avid sports fan, Jerry loved the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. He was a Giants season ticket holder for over 60 years and enjoyed sharing his team spirit with family and friends at tailgates and games. He also loved harness racing and owned many trotters who ran at Yonkers, Roosevelt, Meadowlands, and Freehold Raceways.
Jerry will always be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and generosity, not only with family, but also with friends and even strangers. There was no limit to what he would do for someone in need. His strong devotion and love for his family was obvious in how he lived his life, always putting family first. Always available and ready with support, guidance, and love, he will be sorely missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy; children, Jerry Salomone (Marguerite), Shari Baerenbach (Bob), Kim Salomone Gant (David), and Kory Salomone (Megan); grandchildren, Katie, Joey, Anna, Jesse, Kami, Julia, Kari, and Chris (Jess); great grandchildren, Lilith and Knox; and sisters, Grace and Toot.
Due to COVID, a funeral mass will be held for immediate family only.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or Pitties & Pals Rescue (www.pittiesandpals.com) would be greatly appreciated.
