Jerry's obituary
Jerry Lee McConnell, 82, born in Bellflower, CA October 11, 1941, passed away January 23, 2024, in Gilbert, AZ. Jerry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, sibling, and friend.
Known as ‘The man who loved people,’ Jerry had a genuine passion for being in the company of others. He cherished his family and friends, and his quirky sense of humor and welcoming personality ensured that he had numerous lifetime friends and cherished “car buddies”. Jerry had a deep love for fishing and a particular fondness for antique T-buckets. He was also a skilled pilot in his earlier years.
Jerry is survived by his two daughters, Kelly Noriega and Traci Becker, along with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind five siblings. He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee McConnell, his mother, Mae Belle McDowell, his wife, Sandra McConnell, his daughters Shannon McConnell and Erin Dutcher, and his grandsons, Chad Bivens and Brandon Bivens.
Jerry’s greatest joy was working on cars, most recently his 1923 T-bucket. Nothing would stop him from doing so, and he continued to until his passing. He frequently attended car shows where he would reunite with his friends and fellow car enthusiasts, and he often forged new friendships. Jerry will be remembered for his love of family and friends, as well as his passion for cars, planes and fishing.
A graveside service will be held for family and close friends to honor Jerry’s memory.
